Brighton Pride 2011

Celebrities and political activists in attendance included Alexandra Burke, Joe McElderry, Sonia, Green Party MP Caroline Lucas and human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell. The stars however were the 100,000 people who filled the streets of this small but vibrant City in the County of Sussex.

“Remarkable”

June 21, 2011 1 comment

Dear Mr. President,

I am most grateful for the graciousness and kindness you have shown me and my family – particularly your confidence in my ability to represent you in China. Mary Kaye and I will begin our journey tomorrow – leaving behind a state we love – but also anticipating an extraordinary experience in Beijing. You are a remarkable leader – and it has been a great honor getting to know you.

So just what will the teabaggers do with this?

Idiot Republicans and why Michelle Obama should support the Samaritans.

Michelle Obama arranged for this to happen by persuading Beyoncé to film the music video to “Move your body” with school children as part of her anti-obesity drive. While the intent was never to make this a political video, Republicans have of course gone on the attack.

Republicans claimed that the child-nutrition legislation she backed in Congress would bring about the end of school bake sales. They claimed that her work with the National Restaurant Association to develop healthier menu choices was a government takeover of restaurants.

They even claimed that an increase in pedestrian deaths was because of the First Lady’s campaign to encourage walking.

Thankfully Rush Limbaugh committed himself and his followers to eating themselves to heart attacks. “If we are supposed to eat roots, berries and tree bark, show us how.”

Whoever would have thought that a song to encourage moving and a campaign to encourage healthy eating would have caused Republicans to commit themselves to obesity?

Maybe the First Lady should help sponsor the Samaritans.

Despite the high prospect of rain – tens of thousands celebrate gay pride in Birmingham UK

It was a great day, the rain largely held off and thousands of lgbt people and their friends had a great time. Here’s to all the other Pride festivals across the world, including those in Cities who have net yet been granted their basic human rights of just acceptance.

Tim Pawlenty releases his campaign video

It is becoming increasingly difficult to spot the difference between campaign videos for Republican Primary candidates.

Tim Pawlenty released his campaign video in a celebration of all that is black and white.

Sorry wrong video, that one may have been more honest about Republican plans for the US economy. I think this is the proper one but it is hard to tell the difference as all they seem to have added is music, balloons and an attack on those music and balloons.

So yet another Republican is promising a land of milk and honey, provided that enough ordinary people slash their benefits to give tax cuts to billionaires. Pawlenty is calling Republican voters stupid and he hopes to bilk them for money.

His campaign has about as much chance of happening as the “rapture” that was also promised to GOP fundies.

His qualification for GOP Presidential candidate, he isn’t the idiot that named their sons after an athletic event, Track Enfield, or the disability Trisomy G.

who’s there?

EVERYBODY

oops, pick another date

Oops.

Republicans who believed the rapture are the ones who also think Sarah Palin is electable and that the Tea Party looked out for their interests. Nuff said.
