A message to the GOP about Mr. Hoffa

September 7, 2011 4 comments

Firstly, something that musically hits just the right note.

When a Republican gets shot and a Democratic candidate claims to be the victim then we can speak.

When Democratic supporters storm Town Halls with threats of violence then we can talk.

When Democratic supporters bring guns to Town Halls then we can talk.

When Democratic candidates call for “second amendment solutions” then we can talk.

When a Democratic Presidential candidates call for people to be “armed and dangerous” on ANY issue then we can talk.

Meanwhile why don’t you now go away and go back to discussing your corporate talking points. After all, you missed a whole day not talking about tax cuts for the richest. Your hypocrisy is on Youtube

The hypocrisy of the right.

Three charts to confuse right-wingers

August 29, 2011 7 comments

Here are three “reality-based” charts to show to the right-wingers who spout nothing but FOX-Limbaugh lie machine talking points.  These charts show what actually happened.

Spending

Government spending increased dramatically under Bush.  It has not increased much under Obama.  Note that this chart does not reflect any spending cuts resulting from deficit-cutting deals.

Deficits

Notes, this chart includes Clinton’s last budget year for comparison.

The numbers in these two charts come from Budget of the United States Government: Historical Tables Fiscal Year 2012.  They are just the amounts that the government spent and borrowed, period,  Anyone can go look then up.  People who claim that Obama “tripled the deficit” are either misled or are trying to mislead.

The Stimulus and Jobs

Bush-Obama-Jobs-Chart

In this chart, the RED lines on the left side — the ones that keep doing DOWN — show what happened to jobs under the policies of Bush and the Republicans. We were losing lots and lots of jobs every month, and it was getting worse and worse.  The BLUE lines — the ones that just go UP — show what happened to jobs when the stimulus was in effect. We stopped losing jobs and started gaining jobs, and it was getting better and better.  The leveling off on the right side of the chart  shows what happened as the stimulus started to wind down: job creation leveled off at too low a level.

It looks a lot like the stimulus reversed what was going on before the stimulus.

Conclusion: THE STIMULUS WORKED BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH!

More False Things

These are just three of the false things that everyone “knows.”  Some others are (click through): Obama bailed out the banks, businesses will hire if they get tax cuts, health care reform cost $1 trillion, Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme or is “going broke”, government spending “takes money out of the economy.”

Why This Matters

These things really matter.  We all want to fix the terrible problems the country has.  But it is so important to know just what the problems are before you decide how to fix them.  Otherwise the things you do to try to solve those problems might just make them worse. If you get tricked into thinking that Obama has made things worse and that we should go back to what we were doing before Obama — tax cuts for the rich, giving giant corporations and Wall Street everything they want — when those are the things that caused the problems in the first place, then we will be in real trouble.

Sugar Daddy Gopper refuses to resign.

Sugar Sugar.

Tea Party terrorist offered $80 to an 18 year old for two hours of good fun.

“Cannot be a long time sugar daddy,” says one e-mail response from what is allegedly Hinkle’s address, “but can for tonight. Would you be interested in keeping me company for a while tonight?” In the e-mails, Hinkle allegedly offers $80 for “a couple hours of your time tonight” plus a tip “for a really good time.”

Gibson also claims that when he arrived at the hotel, Hinkle exposed himself and tried to prevent Gibson from leaving when he recognized Hinkle as a lawmaker. Hinkle then tried to buy his silence, and the silence of Gibson’s sister, who had come to pick him up when the encounter went, er, south. More details here.

Hinkle denied these allegations in a statement. “While I must admit to mistakes of judgment, I am seeking professional help on what turned me down a road of self-destruction,” he said.

Wow, he’s a Republicant. The poor boy would have had a one minute blow out followed by one hour 59 minutes of talking about how tax cuts were the cure for premature ejaculation. Phillip Hinkle probably believes his biggest mistake was getting caught. He may well be aware that a certain Presidential candidate can “convert” gays.

This is what “austerity measures” do.

Nations choose to adopt policies that force their public into austerity.

The number of people unemployed in the UK rose by 38,000 to 2.49 million in the three months to June.

This took the jobless rate from 7.7% to 7.9%,the Office for National Statistics said.

The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance also rose, by 37,100 in July to 1.56 million, its biggest increase since May 2009.

Of course, throwing thousands of public sector workers out of a job and squeezing the ridiculously low welfare benefits of the poorest were always going to lead to more jobs, well maybe if you had swallowed some serious drugs during your economics lessons as a Bullingdon Clubber. After all a riot is acceptable if you can throw the cash back at the place you trashed.

The official figures also showed that between April and June:

  • The youth unemployment rate rose to 20.2%, up from 20% in the quarter to March
  • There were 949,000 16 to 24-year-olds without work, a rise of 15,000
  • The number of unemployed men increased by 18,000 to 1.45 million
  • The level of unemployed women rose by 21,000 to 1.05 million – the highest figure since May 1988
  • The number of employees working part-time because they could not find a full-time job increased by 83,000 to 1.26 million – the highest figure since comparable records began in 1992
  • The unemployment rate remained the highest in the north-east of England, at 10%
  • The south-east of England still had the lowest rate of unemployment, with a rate of 5.8%
  • The unemployment rate in Scotland was unchanged at 7.7%, in Wales it jumped to 8.4%, and in Northern Ireland it crept up to 7.3%
  • Average weekly earnings, including bonuses, were 2.6% higher than a year ago
Just to add to the last point, inflation is nearing 5%.

Meanwhile, in the Countries that decided not to starve their poor, the economy is rebounding very nicely, thank you very much.

Bronze age Mutant Ninja Turtle…… “Tax the Rich”.

Many Republican candidates are, in fact, holding fast to the no-new-taxes position that Bush embraced and then abandoned, even as they try to portray themselves as friends of senior citizens and the disadvantaged. Others are sounding more and more like populist Democrats. ‘Unlike some folks around here, I think everyone should pay their fair share, including the rich,’ Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says in a campaign ad

More hypocrisy, of course it is a Republican:

A twist of untraditional Republicanism is added to McConnell’s message when he says, ‘Unlike some folks around here, I think everyone should pay their fair share, including the rich. We need to protect seniors from Medicare cuts too,’” wrote Roll Call reporter Steve Lilienthal. “After proclaiming his independence from the President and Congressional leaders, McConnell reassures voters that he will back a ‘fair deal for the working families of Kentucky.’” <“Democrats Flood Airwaves Charging GOP Party of Rich,” Roll Call, 11/5/1990

Iron Age Mutant Ninja Turtle.:

What I can pretty certainly say to the American people, the chances of any kind of tax increase passing with this, with the appointees that John Boehner and I are going to put on there, are pretty low,”

Loser in a half sell

The Republican Party is offically the political wing of a terrorist network.

August 4, 2011 1 comment

As stocks nose-dive after the US voluntarily decided to follow the path of Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain, the Leader of the Political wing of the Tea Party Terrorists admitted he was nothing more than a hostage taker.

“I think some of our members may have thought the default issue was a hostage you might take a chance at shooting,” he said. “Most of us didn’t think that. What we did learn is this — it’s a hostage that’s worth ransoming. And it focuses the Congress on something that must be done.”

McConnell also stated that he “could imagine doing this again.” In other words, expect the Republican Party to play the part of hostage taking terrorists every time the debt ceiling needs to be raised. And every time the future of America is at stake. This shows how little the Republican Party cares about America and the American people. So next time the right-wing proclaims their love for America, remember that they were willing and are always willing to shoot America in the head for political gain.

For the millions of people who will now (in many cases again) face unemployment FUCK YOU VERY MUCH. To the TeaBaggers who think cutting jobs creates more jobs – I hope yours is first and I really do hope the government does get out of YOUR medicaid first.
