Homophobia and Scares of Child Sex – The Next “Big” Rethug Scandal

September 30, 2009 4 comments

The Washington Times and Fox News are at it again. An Obama Tsar to be marred in scandal. This scandal has enough to get every red blooded Republican angry, but it is of course without serious foundation. That of course will not stop the calls for heads to roll.

Kevin Jennings is Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Department of Education’s Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools. He is gay. That has got every bigot group in the Country targeting him and the Washington Times has just sent out some red meat.

The subheading gives the story away

Safe school czar’ encouraged child sex with an older man

A teacher was told by a 15-year-old high school sophomore that he was having homosexual sex with an “older man.” At the very least, statutory rape occurred. Fox News reported that the teacher violated a state law requiring that he report the abuse. That former teacher, Kevin Jennings, is President Obama’s “safe school czar.

The incident in question happened in 1989. Jennings was 24 and was a teacher in Massachusetts. A student of his, aged 15, told Jennings that he had sex with an older man in a bus depot restroom. The age of consent in Massachusetts is 16. No age of this “older man” is given, 16, 17, 20, 30 or 40. No details of how old this 15 year old will be provided by fox. 15 years and a day, or 15 years and 364 days. Technically it makes no difference if the older man was 16 and the 15 year old was 15 and 364 days. Most Republicans would however accept a sexual relationship between 15 year old nearing his sixteenth birthday and a girl of 16 or even 20. The homosexual nature of this will allow for no mitigation.

Although people may wish that teenagers are not sexually active, the fact remains they are. Jennings had however gained the trust of the boy. Trust he would have lost had he reported that to the police. In 1989, America was a very homophobic place to be. In part encouraged by the rise of the religious right. Had Jennings of gone to the police, he would have outed the boy at school.

Coming out is a difficult experience in itself. Being forced out by a teacher you trusted would have been devastating.

It would also have completely undermined the ability of Jennings to gain the trust of any of his pupils.

To say the least, notifying the authorities or ensuring the trust of your pupils would have been a difficult call. I say he got it right. Queerty is surprisingly more reticent with their support. The usual hate blogs are already twisting this.

Jennings has discussed this as moral choices facing teachers, he is on record for it, hence the comment by the Times;

However, the new audiotape contradicts this claim. In 2000, Mr. Jennings gave a talk to the Iowa chapter of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, an advocacy group that promotes homosexuality in schools. On the tape, Mr. Jennings recollected that he told the student to make sure “to use a condom” when he was with the older man. That he actively encouraged the relationship is reinforced by Mr. Jennings’ own description in his 1994 book, “One Teacher in 10.” In that account, the teacher boasts how he allayed the student’s concerns about the relationship to such a degree that the 15-year-old “left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated.”

Think back to 1989, when HIV was a real death sentence. (I would have been a similar age to the “child” in question). That one bit of advice, use a condom, given his high risk sexual activities, probably saved his life if he listened to it. Would that advice have been given equal standing if Jennings had betrayed the trust of his pupil?

None of the truth really matters though. Watch Fox News and the right twist this. I fear we will cave on this, just as Van Jones and Acorn and give their baying hounds some more red meat.

Hate Site NoQuarter Reported To The Police

September 29, 2009 Leave a comment

Yesterday, I posted on Democratic Underground my concern about a hate site publishing the details of the school involved with the “Obama song”. My concern was right.

Police confirmed Thursday night that threats had been received by the school. They did not say who or what was targeted.…

NoQuarter has a history of its readers making death threats. So much so Larry Johnson has had to warn his readers to calm down.

I have reported this to the police via this email

A hate site by the name of NoQuarterUSa has published the names, phone numbers and web details of the school involved in the “Obama song”.… /
This appears to be around the same time it was reported that the school was getting hate calls.
NoQuarter has previously had commenters publishing death threats against the President. The site is a breeding ground for far right extremism.
The comment is this one

Hello, all! I have blogged about this elsewhere, and posted address and phone no. for the school involved- apparently, yesterday the website for the school was overwhelmed, which is great! We must continue to contact these “insane” so-called places of education and complain! We must tell as many as possible, what is going on in these schools! And- I am saying this as a former teacher….I quit three years ago, because I was being harrassed for being too conservative- I was expecting too much from my students- I hereby give you the information: B. Bernice Young Elementary School, in the Burlington Township, in New Jersey…ph. 609-xxx-xxxx(edited out by me) OOPS! I just checked out their website, and it’s down! I wonder why? Website: in case you might be able to get on- go to the school’s link, and you’ll find the principal’s email and contact info. I emailed her yesterday and it did go through, early in the day-

The far right should not be playing politics with the lives of teachers or children.

I worry about how far they will go.

Stupid Republicans – Rep. Steve King (R-IA) Says Gay Marriage is Purely a Socialist Concept

September 26, 2009 1 comment

KING: But if, there also would be no rational argument against group marriage. And I just take this along the rationale even further and would say if relationships between individuals cannot be prohibited by the state legislature then there is no ban that can actually be constitutional that would ban group marriage. And it wouldn’t have to be for reasons of, let me say, love or lust. It could be reasons of profitability or avoiding taxes or accessing benefits.

So in the end this is something that has to come with a, if there’s a push for a socialist society, a society where the foundations of individual rights and liberties are undermined and everybody is thrown together, living collectively off of one pot of resources earned by everyone. That is, this is one of the goals they have to go to is same-sex marriage because it has to plow through marriage in order to get to their goal. They want public affirmation. They want access to public funds and resources. Eventually all those resources will be pooled because that’s the direction we’re going. And not only is it a radical social idea, it is a purely socialist concept in the final analysis.

Stupid bloody bigot, I guess he thinks the log cabin Repubicans are also socialist?

What is it with Republicans and gay sex? Not getting enough while hiding in the closet?

Darragh Murphy Defends Neo Nazi Racists

September 12, 2009 5 comments

Darra$h Murphy sunk to a new low when she defended a group of thugs closely associated with the race hate Party the British National Party. Murphy asks Waterpanther – where is their racism?

Of course it is not surprising that Darra$h Murphy and her ilk would approve of people like the English Defence League, given her reaction to the Democratic Party selecting an African American as Presidential candidate.

These are the types of people that Darra$gh Murphy is happy to associate with. All would be Proud PUMAs.

Friends of Darragh Murphy

The English version of the PUMA movement that Darra$h Murphy supports have seen skinheads walking down streets doing Nazi salutes, frightening shoppers, causing pub lock ins, EDL supporters chant racist slogans such as “I hate Pakis more than you”. Not too dissimilar to Murphy chanting “Islam sucks”. She would find them to be a welcoming group.

On the male version of PUMA PAC, Stormfront, they even have their own activism sub group.

Murphy and her new best fiends, was so enamoured by Nazis that the whore of Klan money links approvingly to one of their blogs. To her, I guess, every $ is worth it, no matter how much blood it has been stained by.

Good to know that 2000 Anti PUMAs turned up to stop the bigots.

Murphy now makes Michelle Malkin look moderate.

British police arrest would be “armed robbers” with bananas. Claim they prevented next “Great Train Robbery”

September 8, 2009 Leave a comment

August 8, 1963 is still a day of infamy for most of the population of Britain. It is of course the day of the Great Train Robbery. To some in Britain it represents the resurgence of the myth of Robin Hood, to others a dark day for justice. What know ones doubts is that is caused massive embarrassment to both the nations police force and the government.

There was a massive manhunt. People were arrested, some escaped, one even survived an abortive attempt at rendition (by a shady security contractor later given quid pro quo contracts as payment)

One thing the police and government didn’t do – to their credit – was try and fit up bunches of incompetent copycat criminals overheard talking about how great it would be to pull off their own “Great Train Robbery” when all they had for weapons was a few water pistols and a sock full of pennies (which are like quarters but not as shiny).

Fast forward to September 11, 2001 and a group of people destroy the twin towers in New York (amongst other crimes). Within a year the British government is going out of it’s way to brief about the dangers of dirty bombs. Despite the fact that experts state they are not much more dangerous than conventional explosives..

A while after this the British government fakes intelligence about Iraqi weapons capability which is used (along with the US’s own faked intelligence about Iraqi links to Al-Qaeda) to justify their bullshit, racist, bigot scum war for oil, Jebus and Blackwater (or whatever the fuck it was really about).

Then Britain’s own mini 911 happened on the 7 July, 2005. After which the British government ran around like an excited Etonion school boy shouting “I knew Jasmine would cheat on me that’s why I slept with Sarah behind her back before she got the chance to do it first.” The British term for this kind of reasoning is “a load of utter crap”, we would call it placing effect before cause, but we’re not all a load of posh twats who went to Eton.

Both before and after this the Britain and America governments were press releasing (about ever 6 months) that they had stopped another “911” from happening. A lot of which of turned out to be what we British call “bollocks”. For any Americans unfamiliar with the phrase it’s where you’d kick Dick Cheney if you had the chance – unless of course you actually support the torturing, warmongering, bastard.

Today the British government managed to convict the liquid bombers – yes those ones – the ones cited as the reason for banning bottles of water on planes despite that fact liquid bombs work even less well than dirty bombs.

Fair play – there is evidence that they planned to carry out the attacks – just no evidence that they actually had any competence or real means to do it . Should they be convicted? Yes! Should the BBC run a 5+ minute story on morning prime time radio, barely mentioning the link to the original “liquid bomber story”, Instead focusing on how some guy in Pakistan who was arrested in 2006, then escaped and was then killed by a flying death drone is the mastermind (and who really isn’t a US of ISI agent – honest) . No – because it’s yet more bollocks! At least until someone actually provides some evidence.

What the Beeb should have run was a story about how the government finally managed to convict a bunch of incompetent terrorists hailed three years ago by themselves as the greatest threat to democracy since Hitler himself. The equivalent to arresting a gang with bananas planning to a rob a McDonald’s and spinning the story as the prevention of the next great train robbery. Which conveniently brings us back to were this blog post started (in a rather roundabout British way).

Anyway I’m off for tea and crumpets. Maybe when I’m back some actual evidence will have appeared to justify the 8 year long, trillion dollar cluster fuck known as the War On Terror. Personally I’ll just be happy if my government doesn’t commit any more acts of genocide, torture and war crimes while I’m gone.
